Thursday Morning Update

We spent the morning hiking to the top of the local ruins. This was to be a grand temple honoring the sun god. It was never finished because the Spanish conquered the area. The masonry was truly impressive and the views to the town spectacular.

At noon, we returned to the hotel to meet our host madres. They took us home and fed us lunch and the afternoon. We then met as a whole group again from 5:00 to nearly 7:00 to  share experiences. Every group's experience is bound to be different, but most reported a high level of comfort with their families. Where there were concerns, we brainstormed possible ways to address them. Even those with little to no Spanish seemed to be doing  well. Tanda, Jim, and I are so impressed with the enthusiasm and openness of our students. They have connected with one another, engaged in every opportunity set before them, and conducted themselves with confidence and bravery. We are very proud of them.

Greetings! Your trip looks fabulous. I am quite jealous as I sit here reading comments! Who is taking the pictures? They are very good. Continue to have a wonderful trip. Ms. Herg

Great!!

Also, it would be nice if you could post a group picture on a daily basis, so that we could see the kids faces - it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all the info posted in the blog. I hope we will hear a bit from each student, and that they will post their name at the end of the post. You all look happy and relaxed!

Xoxo to you all,

Really proud to hear the kids acting with team-work, confidence and bravery. Hope they are ensuring cultural exchange with the locals toi understand how they live lives that are so different from here in the US.
