Another update from Miss Tucker

The pictures below are from the last two days...

You can see the view from our Bandolista worksite where we are still filling bottles as well as making some educational games. Julian, Nick, Mike and I also picked up two sacks full of plastic garbage on our walk, which is really a climb because there are 150 steps after about mile uphill to get to the site.

We are also getting to visit with some local artisans... Eduardo, a local potter, taught us the traditional Andean way of making clay vessels. In a few days we will go back and burnish our pieces and then he will fire them for us to bring home. A few of us also chose to learn the traditional way of making a canasta (basket) from Pancho. While I was an "ace" with ceramics, I was just about all thumbs with the basket and Pancho had to give me plenty of assistance. I think all the kids got a bit of a chuckle out of that! Tonight we also were able to meet with Ronald Castillo, a local author and educator who is very passionate about trying to keep all the Quechua oral myths and legends alive, since the language is not taught or spoken as much any longer.

There are also a few pictures from our daily wrap up meeting, we talked about leadership styles as well as A.N.C.H.O.R. where our leader/leaders of the day share the following: something they appreciate, news, a concern, a hope, an obscurity, and a reading from our WLS book.

A few funny things were said today but the one that had all of us laughing was when Nick said, "They give me food. I eat it."

Until tomorrow,
Miss T
